How this group is growing into greatness

The bowling team has been a light in the dark for Warren Central Athletics this year. Coming off of a season that earned them second to last place in their conference, they worked as hard as they could to beat the odds and come out with a second place finish in their conference this season.

“I think the kids have just really prepared for it. They’ve grown a lot in their skills and then we just had fun. Try not to take it super seriously, stay calm, and stay level headed,” head coach Paul Willis said.

These athletes put in more work than ever this season and it paid off in their results. They were proud of what they did this year and how they have changed the narrative of Warren Central Bowling. They were able to take a program that had not been successful in the past few years and grow to the point where they have success against harder competition.

“We had our struggles throughout the season, but for the fact that last season wasn’t really that great, we had a major improvement,” sophomore bowler Keith Owens said.

A major improvement for sure, including the team advancing to regionals. This showed the bowlers on the team that their hard work and dedication was paying off. They were excited to be the start of a newer, better, narrative for Warren Central Bowling.

“We have a very bright future, especially for next year. Makayla and I are super motivated for our senior year and we have some really good freshmen and sophomores that are going to get better too. It will be fun to see and I expect great things,” junior bowler Bobby Stephenson said.

Overall, this team showed great strength through the harder times of the season. Even after close losses where the team could have given up on their true abilities, they pushed through and came out stronger.

“We had resilience and it was awesome to see because it would have been easy to give up but we kept fighting,” Stephenson said.
