A look at how a local black owned business owner got her start

A local black business owner, Iketta Banks, created her own credit repair company called Soar Your Score. It was established in January 2019. Before Banks decided to start up her business, she helped her family members, friends, and others with fixing their credit and got the idea to start a credit repair business. Banks was not sure about building her own company, but gave it some thought and took a chance.

¨I was helping family and friends fix their credit for free and I was told I should start a business. I was reluctant at first and gave a lot of pushback, but then took a leap of faith and invested in myself by taking a credit repair course,” Banks said.

Banks decided to become a business owner because of the things she wanted for herself. Banks wanted to do things like make time for her family and wanted to grow financially.

“I wanted to be a yes mom because my corporate American job would always limit my financial growth. I also wanted to spend more time with my family,” Banks said.

What led Banks to create this kind of business is that she knew how to help others fix and improve their credit. She wanted to continue doing this, but make it accessible for anyone, help improve other people's lives, and make it profitable.

“I wanted to help more people change their life and lifestyles by educating, empowering, and motivating them to fix their credit,” Banks said.

Banks was able to create her own credit repair business and class course curriculum all without going to college.

“Without a college degree or business background within the first eight months, I was able to make my first six figures,” Banks said.

A few services and products Banks gives to her clients for her type of business she helps people with managing their finances, giving course information, and helping anyone starting up their own business with good credit.

“I offer personal credit repair, I teach small business owners how to obtain business credit, and I mentor new and established business owners,” Banks said.

Banks’ goal she is looking forward to achieving is to further her name and business making it worldwide.

“I look forward to expanding my brands so that Soar Your Score is a household name all over the US,” Banks said.
