Owlies

Best actress, Best supporting actor, Best picture- “Everything Everywhere All at Once”

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” is a movie about a woman named Evelyn who is trying to do her taxes, but when an interdimensional rapture unravels reality, she has to help save the world while also realizing what all she has missed out on in life. She goes through all these different lives that she has lived in different dimensions.

For best actress, best supporting actor, and best picture, “Everything Everywhere All at Once” deserves some recognition. Not only does this movie have an original storyline, but it is also a very emotional movie to some viewers. Michelle Yeoh has done an amazing job of playing Evelyn in this movie not to mention Ke Huy Quan also did a fantastic job, considering the fact that he has been out of the spotlight for some time. One of the last movies that he did was “Indiana Jones, The Last Crusade,” which was released back in 1989.

Best Original Song, Best Supporting Actress- “Wakanda Forever”

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is about the Wakandans trying to strive after the wake of King T'Challa's death. Namor, “Sub-Mariner” wants to form an alliance with Wakanda to overthrow the nations on land because they pose a threat to Talokun. When Shuri disagrees with this alliance Namor decides to take matters into his own hands and decides to attack Wakanda.

For best original song, “Lift Me Up” by Rihanna should win. Not only did this song bring her back into the Spotlight of music, but there is a very meaningful message behind this song. This song was created for the film's soundtrack and was honoring the loss of Chadwick Boseman. People freaked out about this song before the movie even came out. Rihanna has been gone for about six years and for her to win an Oscar for this song would be amazing.

For best supporting actress, Angela Bassett deserves the spot. She not only gave Queen Ramonda a very in-depth character build but she poured her heart out whenever she played this character. It is very clear that she was very close to Chadwick Boseman, so for her to have this very monumental loss in her life she could be very down to earth with this character who just lost her son. She played the queen so well, and you could hear the power in her voice whenever she spoke. Even in the trailer when she says “I am the queen of the most powerful nation in the world, and my entire family is gone,” it just felt powerful.

Best Actor- “Elvis”

“Elvis” is a biopic of Elvis Presley’s life. From his childhood when he learned that he loved to sing and perform to his rise to fame, where we all know him today. When he was younger, Elvis lived in the poorest town in Mississippi and was ridiculed by his peers due to his fascination with the African-American music of Memphis's Beale Street. One night, when Tom Parker meets with Elvis at the carnival and persuades him to let him take control of his career, beginning a meteoric ascent that sees the Presley family lifted out of poverty.

For best actor, Austin Butler deserves it without a doubt. He put so much time and effort into building his character for Elvis. Everything he did in this movie was so similar to Elvis. He would study everything that Elvis has ever done and would put that into his character. He played it so well.

Best Animated Picture- “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish”

“Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” is about the infamous outlaw, Puss in Boots, who is on a mission to get the last wish from the shooting star to wish for more lives because he is on his last one. when he runs into his former colleague, Kitty Softpaws. He realizes that this wish is no joke. He also has to beat Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Jack Horner to the last wish, while also running from death.

For best-animated picture, “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” gets the Owlie. Even though this movie comes from one of the funniest animated movie series of all time, it is very emotional and more serious than the other films. They built the characters and their emotions very well with this film and added more in-depth characters and villains. It is funny while at the same time, has some dark parts in the film. This movie is one of the best from the Shrek storyline.
