Warren Central High School
  • Ask the teacher about their background

I started working at Warren Central in 1997.  I worked in Indianapolis Public Schools from 1994-1997.

  • Was teaching what you always wanted to do

At 19 yrs old, I wanted to be a teacher, but my parents refused to financially support me. I majored in Tourism management.  Seven years later, I went to University of Indianapolis, since they were the only ones with the night classes in Social Studies Education. I paid for it myself.

  • What was the motivation to start teaching

  • All of my volunteer activities included working with children. I was a Youth Director at my Church and for the Indiana Black Expo (Anderson Chapter).  I went back to school for Social Studies education. I quit my job as a Night Auditor and started Substitute Teaching.

  • Ask the teacher what they will miss from teaching

  • I will miss the students and their energy.

  • Ask them their favorite memory from them teaching and their students

  • I was hired to teach Social Studies at Warren Central High School.

  • How would you reflect upon your career as a teacher

  • It was a good thirty-year run. I am truly grateful that I spent 26 years teaching Warren Central High School students.
