One of the best things to look forward to during the summer is roller coasters. The pandemic has affected amusement parks around the world but as COVID restrictions slowly start to lift, more and more people are willing to come out of their house and take trips. It’s going to be a hot summer and the air of these new and popular rides is going to cool it down.
1. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tron Light Cycle Run
This ride is located at Walt DIsney in Bay Lake, Florida and is expected to open May 27 2022. This roller coaster is supposed to be an indoor story coaster and will have a new ride system that allows guests to spin around 360 and will also be the first roller coaster in Walt Disney to have a backwards launch. With a height of 5,577.4 ft (1,700.0 m), this ride is a must.
2. Revenge of the Mummy
Located at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, this ride plunges you in total darkness with firelit torches as guests try to escape the mummy. This ride opened up May 21, 2004 and is still highly popular. The height is 46’ and the height restriction is 4’6. Although it is not fast, this ride gives you the chills with special effects and jumpscares at every turn. Even though this ride is temporarily closed for maintenance, it is expected to open up late summer for all to enjoy.
3. Wonder Woman Flight of Courage
Located at Six Flags in Los Angeles, California, this roller coaster lets you team up with the Justice League and help Wonder Woman fight off forces of evil. This coaster is 131’ feet and will be known as the tallest and longest single-rail roller coaster in the world. With 3,00 feet of tracks, this roller coaster is going to be going about 58 miles per hour, that’s enough to make anyone scream.
4. Goliath
Located at Six Flags in Valencia, California, this popular roller coaster has one of the longest and fastest drops in the world. With a 255 foot drop at 85 mph, no wonder this ride is still popular even though it opened up February 11, 2000. Not only that, the ride dumps you through an underground tunnel before delivering another drop at 185 feet. Even though this coaster is 235 feet tall, its drops make it scary, fast, and exciting.
5. Falcon’s Flight
Located at Six Flags in Saudi Arabia, Qiddiya, this ride is made to break records. Even though this coaster is supposed to be opening summer 2023, it’s supposed to be smashing existing records for speed, height, and track length. With speeds around 155mph, this coaster is supposed to be built around the edge of a 200 meter-high cliff. This beautiful ride is supposed to deliver frights and admiration. Even though it’s opening up in a year, this is something no normal person would forget about, mark it in your calendars!
6. Steel Dragon 2000
Located at Spa Land in Kuwana Mie, Japan, this roller coaster is the longest roller coaster in the world. With the track length at 8,133’ ft it's no wonder people love this roller coaster even though it came out August 1, 2000. This ride's duration is 4 minutes long with a drop of 307 ft. and the speed of 95 mph. Even though it’s not as fast as the other coasters, this world record coaster is definitely worth the visit to Japan.
7. Aquaman: Power Wave
Located at Six Flags in Arlington, Texas, this ride made its debut in summer 2021. This ride has 700 ft of track and is a one of a kind coast. Riders are suspended 148 ft, then thrown backwards to the other end of the track, the higher they get, the faster the coaster gets, ending with a splash through the water. This ride may be short, but it’s the perfect way to cool down on a hot day!
8. Kingda Kong
Located at Six Flags in Jackson, New Jersey, this roller coaster is the fastest coaster in North America. Even though this ride is short, the starting speed is 128 mph as passengers speed up a hill with the height of 129 ft. Even though this ride opened May 21, 2005, it’s still a popular roller coaster. Those who are seeking thrill look no further, it’s the fastest in North America for a reason.
