A firefighter who saved a baby's life from an extreme apartment fire. William Puzysnski is a deputy who saw the woman and the child on the third floor of the apartment building. Without thinking, Puzysnski took off his ballistic vest and with the help of his partners he climbed up the outside balconies. Puzynski reaches the second floor and the mother hands him the 1-year-old child, and after the mother and grandmother were let down by a ladder.

School coming to an end and having a summer break to enjoy. This school year has been a big adjustment from being virtual, to being able to be in person learning for the whole year. This school year has had ups and downs, from having about a month out of school because of COVID cases to now being able to be mask optional. Also, having prom for the first time in two years, and getting to have a fun time with your friends in person.

A small HBCU in New Orleans that is known for their achievements in helping get Black graduates into medical school, and now the school is planning to own their own medical school. The pandemic has put attention on how much more diversity there is needed in the medical field. There is no update on when the school is opening and the cost, but the enrollment is at 3,600 people.

A three-legged dog who rescued a baby otter from a river. Gus is a 6-year-old dog, who is battelung from cancer and is receiving chemotherapy. On Easter Gus went into a freezing cold river, and Gus’s owner's grandkids watched him enter the water looking for something. When he came out of the water he was accompanied by a baby otter. This was Gus’s first time swimming with his three legs, and saved a cold baby otter. The team at WRC took the baby otter in and made sure the pup's health went back up, and the saif without Gus the otter wouldn’t have survived.

A falling tree that killed siblings in a golf cart Owen County. On Apr. 23, 911 dispatchers got a report that two children had been injured at Oaks Campground. Police found an 8-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy suffering with severe injuries. While the children were riding in the golf cart strong winds started to occur, when a dead tree struck them. The two young siblings were pronounced dead at the scene, but emergency lifesaving efforts were performed.

BA.2, a new COVID variant spreading throughout the U.S. and on the path of being the dominant strain of COVID. The new strain is considered a highly contagious variant of Omicron. BA.2 causes severe illness as it is the same as the first strain of omicron, which means more cases are being detected and are causing hospitalization and even sometimes death.

A heat wave in India that is threatening residents and wheat harvests. India has reached a new record of dangerous heat wave temperatures, and people are worried about local and international impacts of this heat wave. The northern and central regions of India are looking at about 120 degrees fahrenheit. The heat wave temperatures started off about 112 degrees fahrenheit and now are continuously increasing.

Florida passing the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, even though many people are protesting against it. Tuesday April 19 was the day lawmakers passed this law to no longer allow the teaching of gender identity and sexial orientation, to be taught to kindergarten through third grade. This bill has now caught the attention of the Republican Government, and is seeming to be made into a law.
