Brooklyn Baltzell is a standout player on the girls softball team here at Warren Central. She has been putting in her all this season and has taken a leadership role for her team. Baltzell has been motivated in getting into softball and has people to support her. She felt it was a good fit for her.
“My mom made me want to join softball. She played while she was younger and even played at an older age. She got me into it as soon as she could and I have loved it since then,” Baltzell said.
Baltzell has been setting goals and making achievements. She does her best each time she has had a game and helps her team out.
“A highlight of this season for me was hitting a home run in the opening game against Perry Meridian. The team was super supportive, and we as a team played well also,” Baltzell said.
Baltzell has been practicing and striving to do better not only for her but for the team as well. Baltzell sees where she can make changes and works on it until she does better than how she was in the beginning.
“Some achievements that I’ve made are improving my athletic ability. For example, adjusting to different umpires while pitching and hitting,” Baltzell said.
Baltzell always tries to better herself and think of things she can do differently or better.
Baltzell will not give up and keep trying until she gets it. If there is anything to help the team and be better in the game, Baltzell will give it her all and make changes for success.
“Some things I can improve on are staying back while pitching, keeping my head down while hitting, not putting so much pressure on myself, and getting all the way through while hitting,” Baltzell said.
Baltzell helps anyone and all her other teammates that are not sure or haven’t had much experience playing softball. Baltzell knows that learning something new in a sport can be tricky, but the more you practice the better you will be.
“Some tips I would give to a new person that has never played softball before: take your time, don’t rush anything, and with perfection comes patience. It’s not the easiest game to learn and you won’t get it at the snap of your fingers. You have to have a lot of focus and determination if you really want it. With that being said I would also suggest listening and being willing to take constructive criticism, just have fun,” Baltzell said.
