Stephen King, described by many as the “King of Horror,” has made many stories that have sent chills down every one of his reader’s spines, from old classics such as “The Shining'' to new modern stories like ''IT.” At this time of year, the famous horror author has created another story for readers to love: “Fairy Tale.” This story has been said by reviewers to be a new installment to the many stories lining the shelves, after a deep dive inside the creative well of King’s mind.
The main plot of the story is Charlie Reade, a high school student, meets up with a dog named Radar and a recluse of his aging master, Howard Bowditch. After some time, Charlie starts doing jobs for Howard, until he dies, leaving Radar and a cassette tape that may hold one of the oddest stories ever told to Charlie. Unbeknownst to Charlie, Howard lives in a big house on a hill, alongside a locked shed in his backyard that always hums a strange noise. On the tape, Howard explains that the shed was not a shed at all, but a gateway to another world. Charlie and Radar then traversed into this other world and learned that the factions of good and evil were in the middle of an intense war. Now the human and dog duo have to stop this war and return home, all while outrunning the hands of the enemy.
For those who like a taste of adventure and fantasy, “Fairy Tale” is the book for you. It is said to be released on Sept.16 and costs $20.99 for a hardcover.
