How he plans to make this season his best one yet

Evan Wilson, a junior tennis player is leading his team to an excellent season. He is the number one singles player, which means he is the best on the team. He plans to use his skills to help grow the tennis program for after he graduates.

“We're growing the game by just talking to people and asking to join. We've recruited a lot of [incoming] freshmen and other upperclassmen who want to play,” Wilson said.

He started playing tennis a while ago and has not regretted his decision. He has become very skilled and a leader for the Warrior tennis team.

“There's a fun community around tennis and it just seemed interesting,” Wilson said.

Another reason he has stuck with it is his support. He knows that he would not be where he was without all of the support he has received.

“My coach has helped me the most throughout my tennis journey with practices that he held and he'd come and teach me some stuff about tennis,” Wilson said.

He has been on varsity his whole high school career, but this year is his first opportunity to show his true potential. This season, Evan wants to get some things done and has goals that he wants to reach.

“I'm going to improve from last season by practicing and getting better and maybe winning some more,” Wilson said.

Wilson also has an effect on others. His teammates and coaches are excited just to see him perform. While he is grateful for them, they are grateful for him as well.

“Evan's just got a wonderful personality. He listens well, is very attentive and really eager to learn,” assistant coach Daryl Whitney said.

In the end, while Evan hopes to succeed in his time on the team, he hopes to continue to see the team get better, and grow.

“He coaches us really well. He's a very good player and he's good inspiration,” freshman Gilbert Ernst said.
