Illness Policy

The following guidelines will be followed for temporary exclusion from preschool/child care at the Warren Early Childhood Center. Parents/caregivers will be contacted when their child is ill (see below) and must arrange for their child to be picked up from ECC promptly. Please keep all phone numbers updated with the main office, including phone numbers for people who may be notified to pick up a child if the parent/caregiver is unable to do so. Please report all illnesses to the main office, 317-869-4750, by 10:00 a.m. on the day of the child’s illness. Children who are ill, or demonstrate symptoms of an illness, upon arrival will not be admitted to preschool or child care. Children who cannot participate in typical preschool activities due to illness should remain at home under the care and supervision of a parent/caregiver. If a child requires more care than ECC staff is able to provide, without compromising the safety and supervision of other children, the child should remain at home. *A doctor’s note to return to school and regular activities is required after all surgeries. Upon return to school from an illness or post surgical procedure that prevents a child from participating in typical preschool activities, a physician’s statement must be presented. *A written doctor’s note is needed to return after all surgical procedures. Additionally, the doctor must include a list of specific restrictions and length of restrictions.

Please Note: Any illness,or symptoms related to a contagious illness (such as COVID-19), as determined by the Marion County Public Health Department or Warren Township Schools, may require exclusion from preschool and child care. Please call the Director or Nurse at the Warren Early Childhood Center, 317-869-4750, for child/situation specific guidance.
