November 12, 2020
Warren Families and Caregivers,
Based on the guidance provided today by the Marion County Public Health Department and the challenges presented due to COVID-19, all MSD Warren Township schools will begin VIRTUAL instruction on Monday, November 23, 2020. Our students will remain VIRTUAL until Friday, January 15th with a tentative return to our current models on Tuesday, January 19th. This will allow us to get through Thanksgiving and Winter Break where there is an increased opportunity for COVID to spread.
With this advanced notice, we will use next week to prepare our students, staff, and families for the upcoming transition. Although we have experience with VIRTUAL from last spring and with many of our students this fall, there are a lot of details that we will need to think through to ensure our students and staff have a quality and effective experience over the next 27 VIRTUAL instructional days.
One of our priorities next week will be to make sure that every student has a device and has access to reliable internet. IN-PERSON and HYBRID students will be bringing home a form for families to request a WIFI hotspot at no cost. These devices will be sent home with students or can be picked up at their home school. VIRTUAL students in need of a WIFI hotspot can contact the school counselor at their home school to request one.
We will continue to provide food outreach during the VIRTUAL window. Details on times and locations will be shared as soon as possible through our website, school newsletters, and on our social media platforms.
I know this transition will create many questions from our students, staff, and families. We will be creating a specific COVID webpage on our district and school sites to provide clear and consistent information. In the meantime, if you have questions, please reach out to your child’s school.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and most of all support during this strange and challenging school year. #WarrenWill is a real thing and I know that we will get through this together.
Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
