Dec 7 Superintendent Update

December 7, 2022

Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,

We have a couple of important announcements for the week of  December 7th.

Linked here is the latest edition of the MSD Warren District Newsletter. Also, linked here is the latest edition of The Indy Far East Magazine. Please check out the great things happening in our schools and our community.

On Tuesday, December 13th, MSD Warren Township will be hosting a community forum on school safety and security at Creston Intermediate Middle School from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. A special guest panel will be speaking about the proactive and responsive measures being implemented in our community and schools. Special guests will include James Taylor, Director of Student and Social Services; Kent Schroder, Chief Technology Officer; Adrian Pettis, Warren Chief of Police; Suzanne Woodland, Chief of Cumberland Police; Pastor Corey Duncan from City of Hope Community Church; Ryan Mears, Marion County Prosecutor, and the Honorable Geoffrey Gaither, Marion County Superior Court. We invite Warren families, staff, and community members to attend.

As we head into the end of the first semester, I want to express my appreciation for the time and effort being placed on improving our student attendance. As I have shared before, student attendance is the number one indicator of student success. In our efforts to communicate with parents about their child’s attendance, we recognize that there is room for improvement with our processes, communication, and interventions. We have received feedback from our teachers, administrators, and parents and will be making adjustments to our processes and communication as we start the second semester. I want to reinforce that we are not asking children who are sick to attend school. We recognize that COVID, Flu, RSV, and other illnesses are prevalent this time of the year. Please do what you feel is best for your child and keep open lines of communication with your child’s school. If you have questions about your child’s attendance, please reach out to your child’s school.

Thank you for your continued investment in Warren schools, students, and staff.

#Together…WarrenWill grow our students!
